  1. Verify the machine's real-world performance, not just its brochure specs. Talk to other facilities running the same equipment for at least 12 months. Ask about maintenance frequency, energy consumption, and rejection rates—not just output speed.
  2. Factor in the cost of downtime. If a supplier can't articulate a clear plan for spare part availability and service response, that's a red flag you shouldn't ignore. A line that sits idle even one extra day per month can cost more than the price difference between two vendors.
  3. Use a 3-year TCO model, not a single-year ROI. In my experience, the third year is where the gap between good equipment and average equipment really shows up. The "inexpensive" machine will need a major overhaul by then. The well-engineered one won't.

I'm not saying every premium-priced line is worth it. But I am saying: don't let the initial quote be the only number on your spreadsheet. The real cost of quartz slab production isn't just what you pay upfront. It's everything after, too.
